Strategy
Iron Frontier
★★★★☆ 4.4
Iron Frontier drops you on a harsh plateau with a handful of workers and a lot of ambition. You lay out a settlement, route resources, and defend against seasonal threats that scale up over time. It's methodical rather than frantic, which suits the phone screen well.
What we appreciated is that the game respects your time offline — you plan a turn, set production, and nothing happens behind your back while the app is closed. Pinch-to-zoom and drag are precise, and the tech tree is laid out so you can plan several steps ahead without a wiki.
It can be unforgiving early on, and the tutorial could explain supply chains better. Push past the first hour, though, and it becomes one of the most satisfying offline strategy titles we've tested.
What we liked
- No background timers or online checks
- Clean map controls on touch
- Deep but fair tech tree
